COLLEGE PARK, Md., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Da'Rel Scott and Chris Turner accounted for four touchdowns Saturday, keying Maryland's surprising 35-27 victory over No. 25 California.

The Terps (2-1) rebounded from last Saturday's 24-14 loss to an unheralded Division II team, Middle Tennessee State.

Scott scored on two short runs in the first half, and Turner threw two scoring passes among his 15 completions in 19 attempts for 156 yards.

Overall, Scott gained 87 yards on 19 carries and reserve Davin Meggett scored once after 13 carries for 82 yards. Speedy wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey scored on a 27-yard pass from Turner in the fourth quarter.

California quarterback Kevin Riley threw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes and finished 33 of 58 for 423 yards with one interception.

The Golden Bears (2-1) were held to 38 total yards on the ground.

Cal's David Seawright booted two field goals.
