DETROIT, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Gary Sheffield hit two home runs, including a grand slam, Monday to power the Detroit Tigers to a 14-8 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Miguel Cabrera had a two-run home run and three RBI and Magglio Ordonez was 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and four runs scored for the Tigers.

Zach Miner started for Detroit and allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Casey Fossum (3-1) got the win after 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
Kurt Suzuki had three hits, two runs and an RBI and Rajai Davis and Jack Hannahan each drove in a pair of runs for the Athletics, who have lost five of seven.
Losing pitcher Gio Gonzalez (1-4) gave up nine runs on five hits with two walks, and two hit batters in just 1 2/3 innings.
