ATLANTA, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Atlanta's Michael Turner ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, leading the Falcons past the Detroit Lions 34-21.
Turner, who signed with Atlanta (1-0) this year after four seasons with the San Diego Chargers, rushed 22 times.

Quarterback Matt Ryan, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2008 draft, passed for 161 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons.
Detroit's Jon Kitna connected on 24 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns.
Calvin Jones caught seven passes for 107 yards for the Lions (0-1).
