TORONTO, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- John McDonald's drive to the warning track in the 11th inning delivered Scott Rolen from third Wednesday, helping Toronto to a 5-4 win over Minnesota.
The Twins have lost three out of four and fell a game behind the Chicago White Sox in the race for the American League Central title.
Recently re-obtained Eddie Guardado (3-4) came on in the 11th and gave up a lead-off double to Rolen, who moved to third on a single by Travis Snider.
Boof Bonser replaced Guardado and surrendered McDonald's game-winning hit, which was ruled a single.
Jesse Carlson (6-1) got the win by working the top of the 11th.
Toronto won hits fourth straight, thanks in part to Joe Inglett's two-run homer in the third.
Minnesota took a one-run lead in the ninth on an RBI single by Brendan Harris, but Joe Nathan gave up a two-out, run-scoring single to Snider in the bottom half of the inning.
