MLB: Florida 5, Atlanta 3

MIAMI, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Cody Ross' RBI seventh inning single Wednesday helped the Florida Marlins top the Atlanta Braves 5-3.

His lone hit broke a 3-3 tie with one out in the bottom of the seventh gave the center fielder 64 RBI this season.

Hanley Ramirez and Jeremy Hermida had two hits and one RBI apiece.

Josh Willingham knocked in a run and a run scored on reliever Vladimir Nunez' seventh inning wild pitch for the Marlins, who have won three of their last five games.

The winning pitcher was reliever Doug Waechter (4-2).

Starter Chris Volstad surrendered three earned runs and six hits in six innings.

Joe Nelson earned his first save. Atlanta's Kelly Johnson had two hits and two RBI.

Jeff Francoeur knocked in a run, but no other player had more than one hit for the struggling Braves, losers in 18 of their last 23 games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Will Ohman (4-1).
