MLB: N.Y. Mets 6, Philadelphia 3

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Caros Delgado's second solo homer touched off a four-run eighth inning Wednesday that rallied the New York Mets past Philadelphia 6-3.

The Mets moved back into first place in the National League East -- a half game in front of the Phillies. Philadelphia had a five-game winning streak snapped.

New York outhit Philadelphia 13-6, but trailed by a run going into the eighth due to a two-run homer by Ryan Howard and a solo shot by Jason Werth.

Delgado, who drove in a run with a single in the first and homered in the sixth to bring the Mets within a run, homered again with two out in the eighth to tie it.

Carlos Beltran then reached on an infield single and stole second, after which Rudy Seanez intentionally walked Ryan Church. Daniel Murphy doubled in Beltran with the go-ahead run and Brian Schneider's bloop single to left delivered two more.

Brian Stokes (1-0) got the win with one relief inning and Luis Ayala earned his second save by working a perfect ninth.

Seanez (5-4), who came on to start the eighth as the third Philadelphia pitcher, took the loss.
