Alfredsson leads Safeway Classic by one

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Helen Alfredsson made her second straight five-under 67 Saturday to take a one-shot lead after two rounds of the LPGA Safeway Classic at Portland, Ore.

Alfredsson, who earned her sixth LPGA Tour win earlier this year, completed 36 holes at 10-under 134. Fellow Swede Sophie Gustafson (68) was second after getting bogeys at the 16th and 17th holes.

Paula Creamer (68), a three-time winner this year, was tied for third with Kelli Kuehne (70).

Women's World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa (70) is tied for 12th at 5-under-par 139 and World No. 2 Annika Sorenstam (68) shares 21st place at 4-under 140.
