22 players within 3 of Safeway lead

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Angela Park shot a 6-under-par 66 to take a one-shot lead in the Safeway Classic in Oregon Friday.

Twenty-two players were within three strokes of the lead -- including Song-Hee Kim, Karen Stupples, Sophie Gustafson, Kellie Kuehne, Helen Alfredsson and Hee Young Park -- all tied for second place at 67.

World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa was part of a large contingent tied for 13 at 3-under 69.

Angela Park, 19, is the LPGA's reigning rookie of the year.

The opening round went "very smoothly," Park said.

"No bogeys out there, so that was a great start," she said. "It was great because that's where I want to be coming into the first day, somewhere near that."
