BEIJING, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Americans Philip Dalhausser and Todd Rogers dominated the third set Friday to win the gold medal in Olympic beach volleyball in Beijing.

The United States completed a sweep for the Americans in the sport after Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor had claimed the women's gold Thursday.

Dalhausser blocked shot after shot in the closing set to bring about a 23-21, 17-21, 15-4 triumph over Brazilians Fabio Magalhes and Marcio Araujo.

"I don't know how many blocks he had in the third set," Rogers said. "But he took over the match. I just sat back and cheered."

Dalhausser was credited with nine blocks in the match, five more than the Brazilians.

The Americans won the first three points of the third set and after the Brazilians made it 3-1, the United States team ran off six more in a row to effectively seal the victory.

In the bronze medal match, Brazilians Ricardo Santos and Emanuel Rego defeated Jorge Tercerio and Renato Gomes of Georgia 21-15, 21-10.
