Report: Jackson to end Rams holdout

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The agent for Steven Jackson says the St. Louis Rams running back will end his training camp holdout Thursday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Jackson, 25, has spent his four-year career with the Rams since they made him a first-round pick in the 2004 NFL draft out of Oregon State.

The newspaper reported the Rams offered the 6-foot-2, 235-pounder a seven-year, $50 million extension in late July, a deal that included $17 million in guaranteed money.

Eugene Parker, Jackson's agent, informed the Rams Wednesday afternoon that Jackson has agreed to report to Rams Park as a show of good faith in contract negotiations.

"We look forward to him being a Ram for a long time and getting a deal done," said Jay Zygmunt, Rams president of football operations.

Despite injuries last season, he rushed for 1,002 yards on 237 carries with five touchdowns. He added 38 catches for 271 yards and a touchdown in 12 games.
