BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Fred scored the lone goal and goalkeeper Louis Crayton came up big Saturday night to lead D.C. United to a 1-0 victory over Chicago.
Fred headed the ball in the net off a corner kick by Jaime Moreno.
Crayton, who D.C. United picked up to supplant Zach Wells in goal, made two saves.
D.C. United (9-9-1) pulled to within four points of the third-place Fire (9-6-5) in the MLS East.
