Barry Zito (6-15) took the loss. Zito gave up six runs and four hits, walking five and striking out six.

Randy Winn hit two doubles and scored both Giants' runs.

Zito and reliever Billy Sadler were the victims of Houston's sixth-inning rally.

A bases-loaded walk forced in the first run. Geoff Blum and Reggie Abercrombie followed with sacrifice flies to make the score 3-1. A walk sent in another run and Sadler hit two batters, allowing two more runs to score.
