Olympic Medal: M Swim 100 Back

BEIJING, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- American Aaron Peirsol set a world record and won his second straight Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke Tuesday in Beijing.

Peirsol was timed in 52.54, breaking the world record for the fifth time in his career.

Matt Grevers of the United States won the silver and there was a tie for third between Arkady Vyatchanin of Russia and Hayden Stoeckel of Australia. Both will receive a bronze medal.
