MLB: Chi. White Sox 6, Boston 5

CHICAGO, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Jim Thome and Carlos Quentin belted two-run homers Sunday to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 victory against the Boston Red Sox.

The homers were their only hits.

One of Jermaine Dye's two hits was a second inning solo homer.

Jose Uribe had one RBI but no other player had more than one hit for the White Sox, who have split their last four games.

Winner Gavin Floyd (12-6) surrendered five earned runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings with a walk and six strikeouts.

Closer Bob Jenks earned his 24th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Boston got Mike Lowell's three-run first inning homer, one RBI from Jason Bay and one run on Matt Thornton's sixth inning wild pitch.

Sean Casey had two of the seven hits and the Red Sox have split their last four games.

Losing pitcher Clay Buchholz (2-8) surrendered five earned runs and seven hits in three innings.
