NHL names Collins chief operating officer

NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- John Collins, former chief executive officer of the NFL's Cleveland Browns, has been named chief operating officer of the National Hockey League.

The NHL said Collins will oversee the league's business, media, communications and consulting functions.

Collins joined the NHL in November 2006 as senior executive vice president of business and media.
