Top seeds all gone in Rogers Cup

MONTREAL, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Dominika Cibulkova surprised Jelena Jankovic in straight sets Friday, leaving the Rogers Cup with a seed no higher than No. 7 going into the semifinals.

Jankovic, seeded second, fell to Cibulkova 7-5, 6-2. It will be only the second semifinal appearance for Cibulkova this year.

Marion Bartoli, seeded 10th, earned a semifinal meeting with Cibulkova by defeating Ai Sugiyama 6-2, 6-3.

No. 7 Dinara Safina became the highest seed to reach the final four with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova, the fourth seed. Victoria Azarenka will meet Safina in the semifinals after disposing of Tamira Paszek 6-4, 7-5.

Paszek had eliminated top-seeded Ana Ivanovic in the third round.
