NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A badly injured right foot will cause New York Yankees right-hander Chien-Ming Wang to miss the rest of baseball's regular season.
Wang has been sidelined since mid-June with a partially torn tendon and a sprain.
In 15 starts this season (95 innings), Wang is 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA. He has walked 35 batters with 54 strikeouts.
"It's a long shot to get him back for the regular season," Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said Saturday before the game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. "He's still not weight-bearing on the foot and he'll be in a walking boot for another couple weeks. We'll take it week-by-week and see where he is, and hopefully we have him back for October."
Wang's record is 54-20 since he joined the Yankees in the 2005 season.
On June 16, he was placed on the 60-day disabled list.
In both the 2006 and '07 seasons, he was a 19-game winner.
