MLB: Cleveland 9, Detroit 4

CLEVELAND, July 31 (UPI) -- Grady Sizemore drove in four runs Thursday, three with a fifth inning homer, to propel Cleveland to an 9-4 win over the Detroit Tigers.

The homer, Sizemore's 27th this season, gave Cleveland an insurmountable 4-1 lead with one out in the bottom of the fifth against losing pitcher Justin Verlander (8-11), and his fourth RBI came when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded walk in the sixth.

Sal Fasano had two hits and two RBI.

Franklin Gutierrez had one RBI and one run scored on Dane Sardinha's eighth inning throwing error, helping the Indians make the most of eight hits, despite three errors of their own.

The winner was starter Fausto Carmona (5-3).

Detroit got one RBI apiece from Sardinha and Carlos Guillen.

Two runs scored on an error, one scored on Carmona's seventh inning wild pitch, while Curtis Granderson had two of the six hits for the Tigers, who had won three of four.
