PITTSBURGH, July 30 (UPI) -- Chris Iannetta hit a three-run homer in the fifth Wednesday that staked Colorado to a six-run lead en route to a 7-4 victory over Pittsburgh.
The Rockies avoided a three-game sweep and won for the sixth time in eight games thanks in part to a seven-inning effort from Aaron Cook.
Cook (14-6) gave up four runs on nine hits and three walks. Cook is tied for the National League lead in victories with Arizona's Brandon Webb.
Colorado took control with a four-run fifth. Garrett Atkins singled home a run in the inning before Iannetta hit his home run off reliever Freddy Sanchez (4-9). Sanchez, who lost his fourth straight start, coughed up six runs on eight hits in five innings.
Pittsburgh lost for the fourth time in six games.
