MLB: Boston 9, New York Yankees 2

BOSTON, July 28 (UPI) -- David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell powered Boston to a 9-2 victory Sunday that ended the New York Yankees eight-game win streak.

Ortiz hit a two-run homer and an RBI single. Ramirez batted 3-for-5, drove in two runs and scored two and Lowell contributed a two-run single.

Jon Lester (6-2) worked seven innings for the win, giving the Yankees two runs and nine hits. Lester struck out nine batters.

Derek Jeter drove in one New York run and a bases-loaded walk sent in the other.

Losing pitcher Sidney Ponson was pounded for seven runs and 10 hits in four innings.
