MLB: San Diego 6, Pittsburgh 5

PITTSBURGH, July 25 (UPI) -- Josh Bard had two RBI and Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homer Friday, helping the San Diego Padres snap a three-game losing streak with a 6-5 win at Pittsburgh.

San Diego has played nine games of an 11-game road trip and has won just two of them.

The Padres never trailed and had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, enough of a cushion for Cha Seung Baek (3-5) to get the win. He allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Mike Adams worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Trevor Hoffman threw a perfect ninth for his 19th save.

Pittsburgh removed first baseman Xavier Nady from the game after the first inning and later confirmed he had been traded. Although conditions of the trade were not immediately announced, it was reported Nady had been dealt, along with reliever Damaso Marte, to the New York Yankees for pitcher Ross Ohlendorf and three prospects.

Nady was leading the Pirates in hitting with a .330 average.
