MLB: Toronto 5, Baltimore 1

BALTIMORE, July 24 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays completed a rain-delayed 5-1 victory at Baltimore Thursday afternoon.

The contest at Camden Yards was suspended Wednesday night following a rain delay of 1 hour, 44 minutes with Toronto holding a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

When play resumed, Toronto widened its advantage by scoring three times in the eighth.

Overall, three Toronto players knocked in one run and two scored on Kevin Millar's eighth inning throwing error.

Lyle Overbay had two of the eight hits for the Blue Jays, winners in three of their last four games.

Winner A.J. Burnett (11-9) surrendered the earned run and six hits in five innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Baltimore's run scored on Melvin Mora's fourth inning infield single.

Brian Roberts and Aubrey Huff had two hits apiece for the Orioles, who have dropped three of four.

Losing pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (6-8) yielded two earned runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
