Russell Martin had three hits, scored three runs and drove in a run for the Dodgers.

Brian Falkenborg (2-2) got the victory, allowing four hits and one run in 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Eric Stults, who gave up three runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Matt Holliday and Brad Hawpe had three hits and three RBI each for the Rockies, who lost for the first time in five games.

Colorado was down 11-0 but used a 20-hit attack to threaten to make a game of it.

Rockies' starter Kip Wells (1-2) managed to get only one-batter out in the first -- when the Dodgers scored eight runs -- before being lifted. Wells was making his first start after being activated from the 60-day disabled list.
