MLB: Colorado 8, Milwaukee 3

MILWAUKEE, July 9 (UPI) -- Garrett Atkins hit two of Colorado's three homers Wednesday, carrying the Rockies to an 8-3 decision over Milwaukee.

Glendon Rusch won as a starter for the first time in two years. Rusch (2-3) began the season in the bull pen of the San Diego Padres and made 12 appearances before being released.

In his third game with the Rockies, Rusch allowed five hits and a run over six innings. His last victory as a starter came on July 9, 2006, while with the Chicago Cubs.

Colorado won for the seventh time in nine games, getting a go-ahead, two-run blast from Atkins in the sixth inning and a solo shot in the eighth. Joe Koshansky added a two-run homer later in the Rockies' four-run eighth.

The loss went to Ben Sheets (10-3), who surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out 11.
