WIMBLEDON, England, July 1 (UPI) -- Roger Federer, striving for his sixth consecutive Wimbledon championship, takes on Mario Ancic in quarterfinals Wednesday of The Championships.

Federer, the world's top-rated player, owns a 63-match grass-court winning streak that dates to his first-round 2002 Wimbledon meeting with Ancic. Federer is 5-1 lifetime against Ancic.

Rafael Nadal, ranked second, is also headed for Wednesday's quarters and a match against 12th-seeded Andy Murray, who, as a Scotsman, will have the partisan British crowd behind him. Nadal is 3-0 in his career matches with Murray.

No. 31-seeded Feliciano Lopez is paired against Marat Safin in the other quarterfinal of Federer's half of the draw. Safin owns two Grand Slam titles but has never made it beyond the quarters at Wimbledon. Lopez has the historic advantage, winning four times in his five meetings with Safin.

The fourth quarterfinal sends Rainer Schuettler against Arnaud Clement. Both have been in Grand Slam finals before but it's been awhile. That highlight for both came in Australia with Clement playing for the title in 2001 and Schuettler in 2003 and both losing to Andre Agassi. Schuettler is 4-1 against Clement.
