MLB: San Francisco 1, Oakland 0

OAKLAND, Calif., June 29 (UPI) -- Fred Lewis scored the game's lone run on Daric Barton's fourth-inning fielding error Saturday and the San Francisco Giants held on to edge Oakland 1-0.

Barton booted Randy Winn's grounder with none out in the top of the fourth.

Winner Tim Lincecum (9-1) gave up five hits in seven scoreless innings with three walks and 11 strikeouts.

Closer Brian Wilson got Mark Ellis to ground out to end the game and record his 22nd save.

The victory, Lincecum's fifth straight, helped the Giants snap a seven-game losing streak against the Athletics over the last two seasons, while Lewis and Ray Durham had San Francisco's only two hits.

Lincecum is the first Giants pitcher to start a season 9-1 since Gaylord Perry opened 12-1 in 1966.

Catcher Kurt Suzuki had three of Oakland's seven hits, and losing pitcher Justin Duchscherer (8-5) gave up just the run and two hits in eight innings.
