Larrazabal wins Paris golf event

PARIS, June 29 (UPI) -- Pablo Larrazabal shot 4-under-par 67 Sunday and was a four-stroke winner at the European Tour's Open de France golf tournament in Paris.

The Spaniard's 72-hole total, 15-under 269, topped runner-up and eight-time Order of Merit champion Colin Montgomerie (68), who finished at 11-under 273.

The surprise winner, who had played only eight rounds on Sunday all season before this week, breaking par only one time, was sprayed with champagne and then pushed into the water.

In the final round, Larrazabal birdied three of his first five holes to remain in the lead he held at least a share of since Thursday and was not hampered by a double-bogey at the ninth hole, coupled with Montgomerie's back-to-back birdies.

"I don't feel like I won," he said. "It's too hard to believe. I really played great golf and my putter was great all week."

Denmark's Soren Hansen (69) finished third at 10-under 274, with Australia's Richard Green (67) taking fourth at 8-under 276.
