Rockies' Jeff Baker take NL weekly honor

NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- Colorado's Jeff Baker, who hit home runs in four consecutive games, was selected the National League player of the week Monday.

In games June 16-22, Baker hit .435 with seven runs batted and eight runs scored. He had one home run in each game he played Tuesday-Friday. Included in that streak was the infielder's first career inside-the-park home run.

Baker recorded four multi-hit games in the week in picking up his first career player of the week honor.

Also considered by NL officials for the award were: Milwaukee's Prince Fielder, Florida's Dan Uggla and St. Louis's Aaron Miles.
