MLB: Seattle 5, N.Y. Mets 2

NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez had the first grand slam by an AL pitcher in 37 years Monday, but later left with a sprained ankle in Seattle's 5-2 win over the New York Mets.

Jose Lopez had two hits and an RBI for the Mariners, who got only their third victory in their last 10 games.

Hernandez allowed one run on two hits in 4 2/3 innings. Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-1) struck out three batters over two innings to get the victory.

Carlos Beltran had two of New York's four hits, driving in a run and scoring once. Jose Reyes had the two other hits.

Johan Santana (7-6) gave up five runs -- only one earned -- on seven hits in seven innings. Santana is 0-4 over his last four starts.
