ST. LOUIS, June 18 (UPI) -- David DeJesus and Alex Gordon hit solo homers in the eighth Wednesday, rallying Kansas City to a 3-2 victory over St. Louis.
Gordon also doubled and scored twice in helping the Royals capture their second game of the inter-league series and claim their fourth win in a row.
Brian Bannister (6-6) gave up two runs on nine hits in seven innings to get the victory.
Braden Looper started for St. Louis and gave up a lone run on five hits over seven frames. But Kyle McClellan (0-2) gave up two home runs in the eighth to take the loss.
McClellan retired the first man he faced, but DeJesus hit the first pitch he saw out to right to tie the game.
Mike Aviles was retired on a ground ball for the second out of the inning and Gordon followed by blasting a 1-1 pitch to right for the game-winner.
Joakim Soria retired the side in the ninth on eight pitches to earn his 17th save.
