CINCINNATI, June 12 (UPI) -- A bases-loaded triple by Brandon Phillips keyed a four-run seventh Thursday that rallied the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-2 win over St. Louis.
The Reds avoided a three-game sweep after being outscored in the previous two games 17-2.
The game was tied at 2-2 going into the Cincinnati seventh, but the Reds loaded the bases and Ken Griffey Jr. walked to drive in the go-ahead run. Phillips followed with his three-base hit to break open the contest.
Bronson Arroyo threw six shutout innings for the Reds, but the win went to Jared Burton (3-1), who worked 1 2/3.
St. Louis managed just four hits -- one of them a two-run homer by Troy Glaus in the top of the seventh that briefly tied it -- and had a four-game winning streak snapped.
The loss went to Mark Worrell (0-1), the third of five St. Louis pitchers.
