The Cardinals coasted after striking for five runs in the first on a three-run homer from Rick Ankiel and a two-run blast by Jason LaRue.

Ryan Ludwick added a solo shot in the seventh as part of St. Louis's fourth straight win.

Johnny Cueto (5-6) served up the first-inning homers and eventually gave up six runs on five hits in five innings. He walked a career-worst eight, the most by a Cincinnati starter in nine years, and had a three-start winning streak halted.
