BOSTON, June 11 (UPI) -- Bartolo Colon won the 150th game of his career Wednesday and Jason Varitek hit a three-run homer in Boston's 6-3 decision over Baltimore.
Boston rebounded from only its second home loss in 17 games by getting a five-hit, seven-strikeout effort from Colon through six innings. Colon (4-1) is 150-96 in a career that has spanned 12 seasons with five teams.
The Red Sox scored five times in the first off Garrett Olson (5-2).
Jacoby Ellsbury led off the inning with a single, went to third on an errant pickoff attempt and scored on J.D. Drew's one-out double. Drew went to third on a groundout by Manny Ramirez and then scored on a wild pitch.
Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis both walked to keep the inning going and Varitek homered on a 3-1 pitch.
Boston took a five-run lead into the ninth only to have the Orioles score twice off Mike Timlin. Jonathan Papelbon came on to record the final out and pick up his 19th save.
