Kasey Kahne wins Pocono 500

LONG POND, Pa., June 8 (UPI) -- Kasey Kahne won Sunday's Pocono 500 Sprint Cup race in Long Pond, Pa., 3.703 seconds ahead of runner-up Brian Vickers.

To win a Sprint Cup race for the second time this season, Kahne, driving the No. 9 Gillett Evernham Dodge, overcame a late problem caused by his pit crew during an extra pit stop.

He won the race at the Pocono Speedway from the pole position, and also resisted a strong challenge by early leader Jimmie Johnson.

"It was a great afternoon," Kahne said. "This car ran well all day long (and) there was nothing close when we ran out front."

Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton completed the top-five finishers.

Kyle Busch became the first driver to compete in three NASCAR races in a single weekend, but finished last Sunday.

Earlier, he drove in the Nationwide Series race in Lebanon, Tenn., and the Craftsman Truck Series event in Fort Worth, Texas.
