Chi. Cubs 5, LA Dodgers 4

LOS ANGELES, June 6 (UPI) -- Kosuke Fukudome singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning Thursday, boosting the Chicago Cubs past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4.

Chicago's Kerry Wood struck out Jeff Kent with the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning to preserve the victory.

After halting a nine-game winning streak Wednesday in San Diego, the Cubs won again despite blowing a 4-0 lead.

Kent homered in the sixth to bring the Dodgers within one and then hit another solo blast in the eighth to tie it.

Chicago came right back against Takashi Saito (3-2), who gave up a leadoff double to Ryan Theriot in the ninth. Derrek Lee struck out, but Aramis Ramirez was hit by a pitch, bringing up Fukudome.

He swung and missed at Saito's first two offerings before working the count to 2-2 and then delivering a single to right that brought in Theriot.

Bob Howry (2-2) got the win with an inning of relief and Wood made his 17th save a dramatic one.
