Paul Konerko, whose homer in the 15th inning won Wednesday's game for the White Sox, walked to open the second against Gil Meche. Konerko was then thrown out at third on Jim Thome's single and Jermaine Dye followed with a single.

Nick Swisher's base hit drove in Thome, Toby Hall drew a walk to load the bases and a groundout by Pablo Ozuna allowed Dye to score. Cabrera followed with a two-run single that gave the White Sox a 4-0 lead.

Contreras made it stand up, allowing a run and striking out three.

Meche fell to 3-8.

Thome's seventh-inning homer was his 12th of the year and second in as many nights.
