MINNEAPOLIS, June 1 (UPI) -- Minnesota's Michael Cuddyer drove in three runs Sunday, pacing the Twins to a 5-1 win over the New York Yankees.
Cuddyer's two-run single in the first inning gave the Twins a 2-0 lead and he sent home another run with a triple in the eighth.
Justin Morneau had a pair of hits and scored two runs for Minnesota, which has won four of its last six games.
Twins starter Nick Blackburn, who yielded a run on five hits, left with one out in the fifth inning after he was struck in the face by a line drive hit by Bobby Abreu. Twins officials said X-rays taken later on Blackburn were negative.
Reliever Brian Bass (2-1) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and got the win.
