DENVER, May 25 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday went to the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a left hamstring strain.
He suffered the injury in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the New York Mets while trying to beat out a ninth-inning ground ball.
"We're going to leave Matt back for a few days because we have all the pertinent training rehab stuff here," Manager Clint Hurdle said on the team's Web site shortly before the start of a 10-game road trip. "We'll revisit this when he might catch up with us."
To date, the 27-year-old left-fielder, who was the 2007 runner-up to Philadelphia shortstop Jimmy Rollins in balloting for the National League MVP, is hitting .321 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 187 at-bats.
He joins shortstops Clint Barmes (knee) and Troy Tulowitzki (quad), outfielder Brad Hawpe (hamstring) and five others on the DL.
