OAKLAND, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- A two-run seventh-inning homer by Jack Cust Sunday gave the Oakland Athletics a 6-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox.
Cust's eighth homer this season gave Oakland its three-run cushion after Manny Ramirez had hit a two-run single in the top of the fifth, bringing Boston within 4-3.
Winner Joe Blanton (3-6) surrendered four runs -- three earned -- and five hits in six innings with four walks and seven strikeouts.
Huston Street recorded his 11th save.
David Ortiz added a solo homer in the top of the first and Ramirez had three of the seven hits for the Red Sox, who have dropped their last seven road contests.
Losing pitcher Jon Lester (3-3) gave up four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits in five innings.
