MLB: Detroit 12, Seattle 8

DETROIT , May 20 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria went 4-for-4 and had five RBI Tuesday in the Detroit Tigers' 12-8 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

Justin Verlander (2-7) gave up one run on four hits and struck out seven in six innings to end a career-high four-game losing skid.

Renteria hit a solo home run and added a three-run triple for Detroit, which won for just the second time in its last eight games. Curtis Granderson hit a two-run homer and doubled in another run. Carlos Guillen and Magglio Ordonez also hit home runs while Miguel Cabrera was 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Losing pitcher Carlos Silva (3-3) gave up seven runs on nine hits in four innings for the Mariners.

Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-4 and Adrian Beltre drove in three runs for Seattle. Vuniesky Betancourt and Jose Vidro each had two hits and an RBI.
