BOSTON, May 20 (UPI) -- Justin Masterson gave up three hits and one run in 6 1/3 innings, and Coco Crisp drove in the winning run Tuesday in Boston's 2-1 win over Kansas City.
Masterson (1-0), making his second career major-league start after being called up from Class AA Portland, fanned five and walked three in his first big-league win. Jonathan Papelbon had his 13th save of the season with 1 1/3 scoreless relief innings.

Julio Lugo also had an RBI and David Ortiz had a pair of hits for the Red Sox, who have won five straight games.
Starter Gil Meche (3-6) took the loss for Kansas City after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.
