CHICAGO, May 17 (UPI) -- Nate McLouth's two-run homer Saturday lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Chicago Cubs 7-6.
The contest was knotted 5-5 with one out in the top of the ninth when McLouth blasted an offering from losing pitcher Carlos Marmol (1-1) into the right-field seats. The game-winning shot was the center-fielder's third hit of the day and 12th homer this season.
It was needed because Ryan Theriot's RBI single pulled Chicago within 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth.
Four Pittsburgh players drove in one run.
One run scored on an error while both Theriot and Mark DeRosa had two hits for the Cubs, who had won seven of eight.
