KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 14 (UPI) -- Detroit shortstop Edgar Renteria's missed flip to second on Mark Teahen's grounder scored pinch-runner Esteban German, giving Kansas City a 3-2 win Tuesday.

Jose Guillen hit a two-run double to account for the other Royals runs, and Mark Grudzielanek went 3-for-4.

Kansas City starter Zack Greinke didn't get the decision but threw six solid innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and two walks. The win went to Leo Nunez (3-0), who threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Joakim Soria got his ninth save. He hasn't allowed a run in 15 1/3 innings this season.

Tigers starter Nate Robertson surrendered 10 hits but only two runs over seven as Detroit lost for the eighth time in 10 tries. Francisco Cruceta (0-1) took the loss, allowing an unearned run on two hits in the eighth inning.
