Former LSU quarterback finds new school

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 14 (UPI) -- Former LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has transferred to Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala.

The 6-foot-2 inch, 222-pounder was dismissed by LSU Coach Les Miles May 2 for what the coach said was a failure to follow team rules. Neither Miles nor Perrilloux elaborated.

"Basically, I just see this as a second opportunity to be successful," Perrilloux told the Birmingham (Ala.) News.

He said Jacksonville State Coach Jack Crowe and President William Meehan were helping him make the change.

"They are behind me l00 percent," said Perrilloux. "I am excited that it's over and I can begin to move forward."

He will be able to play immediately and will not have to sit out the NCAA-required two seasons at the Ohio Valley Conference school, because JSU is a sub-division school.

Perrilloux was a sophomore in 2007 when he played a major role in the Tigers' national championship. He completed 51 of 75 passes for 694 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
