NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was selected the National League player of the week, the league announced Monday.

Players' performance in games April 28-May 4 were considered for this week's honor.

Kemp hit .407 with four doubles and an NL-best 11 runs batted in in six games. He also led the National League with six stolen bases and tied the lead with 11 hits. It is the first time he has been the league's player of the week.

Other nominees for the weekly award included San Francisco's Aaron Rowand, who batted .478 with two home runs, San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez, who hit .385 with four home runs and Pittsburgh's Xavier Nady, who batted .450 with seven runs batted in.
