TORONTO, May 4 (UPI) -- Matt Stairs' two hits and two RBI Sunday helped Toronto edge the Chicago White Sox 4-3.
He drove in both runs with a double in the bottom of the second inning. Vernon Wells' RBI single in the same inning gave the winners a 4-0 lead and was the eventual game-winning hit.
Lyle Overbay had one RBI but no other player beyond Stairs had more than one hit for the Blue Jays, who have won four in a row.
Winner Roy Halladay (3-4) yielded three earned runs on just three hits in 7 1/3 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. Scott Downs earned his third save.
Chicago scored all of its runs in the third on RBI hits by Jim Thome and Paul Konerko and an RBI groundout by A.J. Pierzynski.
Losing pitcher Jose Contreras (2-3) gave up four earned runs on six hits in eight innings with no walks and five strikeouts.
