MLB: San Diego 7, Florida 2

MIAMI, May 4 (UPI) -- Jake Peavy gave up two earned runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings Saturday to help the San Diego Padres beat Florida 7-2.

Peavy (4-1) walked two batters and struck out eight while lowering his earned run average to 2.22 in six starts this season.

Tadahito Iguchi had two hits and two RBI. Adrian Gonzalez had three hits, one a solo homer in the ninth.

Jim Edmonds and Kevin Kouzmanoff also had two hits for the Padres, who snapped a two-game skid.

Florida's runs scored on Mike Jacobs' eighth homer this season in the bottom of the first. Jeremy Hermida had three of the six hits for the Marlins, who have dropped four of five.

Losing pitcher Ricky Nolasco (1-3) allowed six earned runs and 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Florida's Hanley Ramirez saw his streak of reaching base safely in 47 straight games at Dolphins Stadium snapped.
