MONTE CARLO, Monaco, April 27 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer in straight sets Sunday to win the Masters Series Monte Carlo in Monaco for the fourth straight year.
The deceivingly close scores were 7-5, 7-5.
Federer led 4-0 in the second set before Nadal roared back to win seven of its final eight games.
Federer, the top-ranked player on the men's tennis circuit, made 44 unforced errors against 20 by the second-ranked Nadal.
It was the second year in a row Nadal did not lose a set in this tournament and the third straight year he beat Federer in the final.
"It's hard to imagine winning this title for four years in a row," Nadal told the BBC in London.
"He's a hell of a clay-court player," Federer said. "You can't get away with just serving well because he scrambles so well and can break you at ease."
Nadal has a 9-6 advantage in head-to-head meetings, including 7-1 on clay-court surfaces.
