MLB: Tampa Bay 2, Boston 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 27 (UPI) -- James Shields' complete game, two-hit shutout Sunday led Tampa Bay to a 3-0 win and a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox.

In his first major league complete game, Shields (3-1) walked one batter and struck out seven. The only run he needed scored on Josh Beckett's throwing error in the bottom of the third inning.

Evan Longoria then hit a solo homer in the seventh and Carl Crawford added an RBI double in the eighth.

The Rays had only five hits of their own and Jason Bartlett scored twice in their sixth straight win.

Beckett (2-2) surrendered two runs -- one earned -- on four hits and one walk in seven innings. He recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts.

Julio Lugo and Dustin Pedroia had one hit each in the Red Sox' sixth loss in a row.
