MLB: Chi. White Sox 6, Baltimore 1

CHICAGO, April 27 (UPI) -- Two solo homer runs by Paul Konerko Sunday helped the Chicago White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-1.

Konerko's first homer gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The second broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth.

Carlos Quentin had two hits, and drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh. Alexei Ramirez and Brian Anderson drove in one run each for the White Sox, who have two of the first three games in the four-game series.

Winner Jose Contreras (2-2) yielded an earned run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Baltimore's lone run came on Brian Roberts' third homer of the season in the top of the third. Roberts had two of the five hits for the Orioles, who have lost two in a row after a three-game winning streak.

The losing pitcher was starter Jeremy Guthrie (0-3).
